Proximity

Have you ever given thought to why you are WHERE you are? Or why are you living in this day and age? God has appointed your time and location to live. He knows what grocery store you will be in and what time you will be there. He knows the exact instance you will cross paths with certain people and situations.

Your proximity to others has a God given purpose. Sometimes it’s because someone is noticing you, the way you live, your routine. They may become curious about God because of how they observe you’re going to church as a family every Sunday. Maybe you’ve even hosted a gathering of people from church and the neighbors can hear you singing about Jesus as they walk by.

Other times proximity has to do with initiative on your part. You are the one that has the neighbor that lives alone and needs to be engaged. You are the one that noticed someone in need on the street when you were driving by. What about at the workplace? Could it be that God has placed you at your job to engage with a coworker and share the good news of Jesus?

What if your “inconvenience” of the day is really a divine appointment through proximity? That delay. That return that you have to make because someone didn’t do their job correctly. That difficult person you keep running into. What if that’s God directing your steps?

One thing is for sure. There is no community without proximity. You have to come close, cross paths, and start conversations.
