True community, the kind of community that God had in mind for us, isn’t separated by age, race, gender or even generations. It can take place anywhere. It can even take place in the middle of the street.
Sure, we may start relationships based on common interests. Maybe it begins with a shared hobby or sports. But somewhere down the road we have to learn our created purpose. What is the goal in life?
God’s idea of community and purpose is far better than anything we could come up with. First of all, “It’s not about you.” In the book, “Purpose Driven Life” we are reminded that the Bible says “The LORD has made everything for his own purposes.” Proverbs 16:4. That’s right. Our God given purpose is to bring God glory. His idea of community is built on all of us being created to share in that purpose.
True community comes when we recognize that we were created in His image, for His glory.
