PRAY

Pray for courage to engage with people. Ask God to change the way you think about engaging with others if it’s difficult for you. You have the hope, so you take the initiative to pursue others.

LOOK

Actively look for people to engage. Remember you were born for such a time as this. God is going to place people in your path for you to engage. Purpose that when He does put someone in your path that you will act and not ignore.

LISTEN

Part of engaging with others is listening. People that are lonely tend to have a lot to say because they have had no one to share them with. Be an intentional listener. Learn to ask questions that aren’t able to be answered with one-word answers. Start with “How did…?”, “Where did…? any question that requires the person to tell more about themselves.

ENGAGE

You can do this. Once you intentionally pray (Ask God to open your eyes to who is He sending you.), look (If they are in sight, it’s for a reason.), listen (Do they seem upset? Happy? In need?) and engage (Smile. Enter into what they are doing? Do they need help with something? Are they new to the area? Trust the Holy Spirit. He’s in you for a reason! He can speak through you.)
