“Excuse me. Did I overhear you talking about Jesus?” Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be asked that question while gleaning blueberries. (Yes, that’s right. I was gleaning blueberries when I was approached from the other side of the blueberry bushes.) Within minutes I was in a conversation with a first-time acquaintance that was desperate for someone to pray for her adult children living in addiction.
This senior mother asked me if I would please pray for her daughter, Rachel and her son, Richard. She said that her children were in their 50’s, but that she would not give up praying for them. Desperate and clinging to God’s promises in His word, she was reaching out for someone that would agree with her in prayer.
With a row of blueberry bushes between me and this precious mother, I put my collection of blue berries down and began to pray for God to rescue Rachel and Richard. Together we unashamedly and with confidence called on God as if it were just the three of us; her, me and Jesus.
“What just happened?”, I thought. “Did I just pray with a complete stranger in the middle of a blueberry field?”
Shortly afterwards, I heard my name being called a few rows away. My friend that was also gleaning, told me to come with her because there was a lady in the field that needed prayer. This young lady explained to us that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I began to pray with three other sisters-in-Christ for the healing of this lady. All I could think of was how God had arranged this day. What a lesson I was learning.
If we will ❤️pray, ❤️listen, ❤️look and ❤️engage wherever we go, there is no limit to what God can do or arrange. Never underestimate the plans of God for your day. You just might find yourself in the middle of a blueberry field praying for people.
