How well do you know your neighbors? Do you know their names? The times they come and go? What about their favorite dessert? Do they attend church? If so, where? Do they have any food allergies? What do (or did) they do for a living? Do they live far or close to family? Would you know who to contact should there be an emergency?
One in three do not know their neighbor’s name, a survey has found. And one in ten admitted they speak to them no more than once a month. The poll of 2,000 people by mobile brand OnePlus found many feel less connected than they did five years ago.

Write the number of neighbors on your street and compile the answers to the above questions. Choose one of the questions to improve your ability to answer and give yourself a month. Make a plan to learn more about your neighbors. See if you can raise the amount of answers you can provide about your neighbors.
If you have started using the Bless Every Home app, the names will be the easy part. In any case, pray for your neighbors by name and ask God to give you opportunities to engage with your neighbors. Then pray for eyes to see those opportunities and courage to act on them. Below is a suggestion for a simple way you might try to create an opportunity to build relationship with those living on your street.
Fall Engagement Opportunity
Here’s how one MFH subscriber describes her Fall engagement opportunity. “We gather one Saturday morning a year from about 9am-11am in our driveway in front of our house for coffee and tea and some breakfast goodies. It’s usually in the fall. I’ve gone door to door with a flyer in the past but we have a neighborhood email and Facebook page which we use now. We also stop and remind neighbors as we see them out walking etc. Usually about 30 or so filter in and out with some staying the whole time. We have a few chairs out but people end up standing and moving around. Some neighbors ended up bringing food even though I didn’t ask it of them.”
