Pay it Forward

“Pay it forward” is a commonly heard phrase in our day. You may be in a drive through at Starbucks. You pull up to the window and you hear the wonderful words, “The person ahead of you paid for your order.” The expectation is that you will “pay it forward” to the person behind you. The hope is that it will continue for as many people possible.

So it is with discipleship; except the price is higher and then gift far more valuable. Discipling someone is more than passing on the gospel of the free gift of salvation. It is also the passing on what Jesus has taught you in years past to the more recent of yesterday. You learn and you share it. It can be what you are learning about who God is, or who God says you are. Everything you are learning, is passed on.
